  1. I don't really think that the Prince's family influence was deteriorating, but taking a different direction. Remember the way that people treat him and how he was asked to become a part of the senate? They still have great respect for his family, they just don't want to be ruled by a monarchy.
I'm not really sure were loyalty to tradition was being compromised. I think that at the time of this movie the monarchy no longer existed in the way that we think it. It was a title, with little power to it. The prince did accept his family's decline from being all blue-bloods with regard to the engagement between Angelica and Tancredi. As was said in class, Angelica was from a middle class family with no noble blood in her at all, yet the Prince was the one who pushed for the engagement. He accepted that his noble blood was to be no more.

  2. To be fairly honest I had a hard time paying attention to the movie, but I think the themes that you listed are valid and I agree with you about the Prince's dilemma. I'm wondering, did you have the same issue watching the film as I did because, no offense, you posted a little less than you normally do and followed that with sharing a scene that was more beautiful in it's production value rather than it's storyline.
